Shikotan island

Shikotan is the largest island in the Lesser Kuril range. It is 27 km long and 5 to 13 km wide. The island is very comfortable for walking. On Shikotan there are no active volcanoes, thermal springs, bears and venomous snakes, as well as large rivers and lakes, but there are many beautiful bays and pristine nature. Shikotan is also a scientific base - there is a hydrophysical observatory.
Cape Kray Sveta, Bezimyannaya Bay
Perhaps the most popular attraction place and the calling card of the island is the Cape Kray Sveta cape of the Edge of the World, which is a rocky ledge that goes far into the sea and breaks down with 40–meter walls
Cape Crab, the lighthouse of the Spanberg
The highlight of Shikotan is Cape Crab and the Shpanberg lighthouse located therestanding on it, named after the captain who in the 18th century discovered more than three dozen islands of the Kuril Ridge, including Shikotan
Tserkovnaya Bay, Notoro and Tomari Mountains
The most peaceful bay on the southeastern coast of Shikotan is the TserkovnayaChurch Bay. On both edges sides of the bay there are two islands – Aivazovsky and the Ninth Shaft
Snezhkova Bay
On the way to Snezhkov Bay, you can admire the views views all the timeway: a stone-birch forest, an open hilly landscape, islands of juniper thickets.
